Many Lakeland High School (LHS) students always try their best to get as much of the high school experience as they can.
Whether it is playing a school sport, becoming a part of a club, or going to school dances, Lilly Dotson is a great example of someone who has tried it all.
Dotson, a senior at LHS has experienced a great amount of opportunities and activities at Lakeland. Dotson transferred from Post Falls in her junior year and has since then taken up many opportunities that Lakeland offers.
Dotson is the 2025 senior class president and has a lot of responsibilities because of that. She has to help and plan out every Lakeland event that is happening both in and outside of school. Dotson is also the main planner of the senior prank that will be happening at the end of this year involving all Lakeland seniors.
Similar to last year when she was the head of the homecoming committee, this year she is the head of the prom committee meaning she has to plan out most everything for prom. Despite how stressful and busy she can get being the senior class president, she claims it is one of her favorite things she has the opportunity to do.
Some of her most memorable things at Lakeland have been her being on homecoming court and getting to be the school mascot for a football game which she claimed both were super fun and she was glad to have the opportunity to do both.
Kambree Marreel, one of Dotson’s close friends says that Dotson is a very positive person who is always able to understand people’s feelings.
“She is really good at matching people’s energy and knowing when to be in a happy mood or a more serious mood,” Marreel said.

Working as a barista is another thing Dotson loves doing. She works as a barista at Lakeland Perk, serving customers up with their favorite drinks, hand made by herself. She says she very much enjoys her job and likes to bring a smile to peoples faces through her services.
“I love that I get to interact with people and brighten up their day with drinks,” Dotson said.
Outside of school Dotson spends her time mindfully. She loves to volunteer her time towards people who need it like helping to do yardwork for injured veterans.
Over the summer, Dotson plans on volunteering with Habitat For Humanity to help and build homes for people in need.
During summer she will also be volunteering for a state counselor at Idaho Syringa Girls State where girls from the state of Idaho get the chance to go to a camp where they learn about politics and meet public figures such as senators and Nasa employees.
After high school, Dotson hopes to major in political science at Grand Canyon University or Northwest Nazarene University.
Not only does she want to major in political science but would also like to study youth ministry in either college to become a youth pastor. She would like to move out of her parents home as soon as she possibly can, wanting to get her own sense of adulthood.
For Dotson’s humble beginnings in her junior year at Lakeland High School, she has made quite the mark for her shortened time attending. Her hard work to become the senior class president and become an important part of Lakeland is admirable and something students should aspire to.
