On October 18 the Lakeland Girls Varsity Volleyball team beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs at home.
They had a 25-23, 25-20, 27-25 win over the Bulldogs.
This win is huge for the Hawks not only for some post season volleyball, but also the pride of beating the cross town rivals.
The Sandpoint vs LHS rivalry has been around for ages and its competitiveness is in all sports. A win against the Bulldogs in any game is always a great feeling for the team, but also the school.
“I think we did a really good job and we were aggressive all night and we didn’t let the other side of the court affect us. I think I played smart and was strategic and kept the energy going and kept my teammates positive throughout the match,” Kindell Day said, “I think we’re ready for Lewiston. If we just show up and play to our level we’ll definitely be able to beat them.”
In this 5A Region 1 tournament, Kindell Day had 11 kills and 14 assists, Jaeli Hoffman had 9 kills and 16 assists, Raygen Dutton had 8 kills and 3 blocks, Chloe Neff had 17 digs and 2 aces, Anabel Bowie had 4 blocks, Jolie Warren had 10 digs, and Alyssa Ryckman had 2 aces.
All Hawks were firing on all cylinders and it showed in the final score.
“I thought we played well together, and we worked well together, too. I feel like I also played well, I guess,” Jaeli Hoffman said, “I think we’re ready to play Lewiston. It’ll be a competitive game but we’ve practiced well.”
Now after this win the Hawks will take on top-seeded Lewiston at Lewiston High on October 21.
This coming up game is also just as important, Lewiston being the top seed the stakes are high and it will only make the victory that much sweeter.
