As many seniors are preparing to graduate this June at Lakeland High School (LHS), they are also letting go of their youth.
Coltan Booth is a senior at LHS who will be graduating with his class this June, letting go a crucial part of his youth and childhood.
After high school, Booth does not exactly have a plan. He wants to attend North Idaho college in the fall semester after graduation but is not quite sure what to major in.
I am excited to value having more freedom in what I am able to do,” Booth said.
However, in school, Booth seems like a successful student who is loved among many of the staff.
Mrs. Gravatt, the LHS Art teacher, says she has had him as an art student for four years and is impressed with his work.
“He has amazing illustrative cartoons and stories and is just an overall great student with a great personality,” Gravatt said.
Apart from school, Booth enjoys an array of activities.
For Booth, an important part of his life is staying active. Because of this, he loves to walk around his neighborhood everyday to get his daily 10,000 steps in and claims he always achieves much more than 10,000.
Among being physically active, Booth enjoys the virtual world of activities.
He enjoys video games outside of school such as Batman: Arkham, a superhero action-adventure video game series based on the DC Comics character Batman, developed by Rocksteady Studios.
His favorite video game is Assassin’s Creed which is a where players travel through time to vast historical settings to uncover secrets and battle the Templar Order, often reliving memories through a device called the Animus. He enjoys these games because of the action and in depth storylines of them both.
The love for video games also expands into a love for films. Booth enjoys movies with good character development and a story that is able to keep going. He enjoys the known and loved DreamWorks film series Shrek and the action movies made by Marvel.
Booth expressed that one of his favorite movies that came out recently and is extremely popular is the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters. The film follows a K-pop girl group who when they are not selling out stadiums or topping the Billboard charts, they’re moonlighting as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger.
Booth’s interests could be seen as a sense of childhood even though he will soon be graduating. Even after graduating he plans to keep liking these things and pursuing his gaming and movie watching career.
