A busy introvert?
Annabelle Baker makes it work. She is a senior at Lakeland High School (LHS) with a passion for beauty.
From place to place without ever even leaving the country, Annabelle moved around quite a bit, but only within Idaho.
In her free time, she plays guitar and hangs out with her friends.
“I enjoy inside activities more,” Annabelle said.
Baker hopes to go to Paul Mitchell for cosmetology. Then, she plans to work her way up to owning her own parlor.
Her mom inspired her most, alongside other things from her childhood.
“I think what shaped me the most was the bad things in my childhood,” Baker said, “these experiences made me stronger and have more character.”
As we all know, bad things can build character. Her mom was a single mom and raised her by herself.
“She raised me without spousal support and became a tax manager at a law firm all by herself,” Baker said.
Her mom is such an inspiration for her, she even modeled her future after her. This dream didn’t come out of left field, she says that her mom was interested in doing Baker’s hair and nails, which led Baker to start doing her own hair and nails, then Anna wanting to pursue a career in cosmetology.
High school is full of ups and downs. Baker has made the most of her years and made many memories while she is still at LHS.
Her school spirit is strong with her saying, “One of my favorite memories is prom last year because it was fun to go to dinner and hangout with my friends.”
Alongside the impression of school spirit that kids will have forever, teachers make this school really come together. Baker says one of her most memorable teachers is Mrs. Archer.
“She has a lot of sass and isn’t afraid to call out a student if they’re misbehaving.”
Nobody knows where they may end up in the future. But, Baker had a few ideas.
“When I was younger, I thought I was going to be a marine biologist. I have always stood by the quote “just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not real,” Baker said.
Before Baker leaves to make her dreams a reality, she would like to leave the underclassmen with a piece of advice.
“There will be times when you drift away from your friend group. You’ll do it a lot. But don’t let it get to you,” Baker said.
Baker shows us through her words that bad things can be a blessing in disguise.
As Baker leaves to pursue her dreams, her legacy will not be forgotten.
