Sofia Holan balances school work on top of many sports.
But Holan decided to go out of her comfort zone and try something new this year.
Holan joined the Lakeland girls soccer team. Holan originally decided to join soccer because her and her dad used to play it together.
“Soccer has helped me make new friends and gain more connections,” Holan said.
She added that it has been one of her favorite parts of the sport so far. Winning games have given her more confidence to learn and keep playing soccer.
Holan isn’t the only student that has tried something new this year, Jaeden Erk a senior at Lakeland High School (LHS) originally wasn’t going to KTEC but decided to give it a chance because he found something he was interested in.
“The teachers there are really cool and make learning fun. I’m glad I did it,” Erk said.
He also added how he hates having a fifteen minute lunch but it’s worth it because of the environment.
Layni Carrera joined cheerleading for the first time this year,
“It’s something that’s really out of my comfort zone.” Carrera added.
Carrera decided to join cheerleading as a way to get herself to be more active and athletic.
She also stated how the people are really fun and learning new dances has been exciting for her.
