Tripp Peraldo, is a Junior at Lakeland High School (LHS). He transferred during his Junior year, and is happy with the change of schools.
As I was interviewing him, he said something that caught my interest. He is a drummer, but not the average band student. Instead, he is a drummer for an actual band.
He started the summer of 2024 when a man he worked for, named “John”, was giving him some work. As he was cutting down trees, and clearing out a section of the land, John struck him with an odd question. “Do you like drums?”.
John then led Peraldo down to his basement, and showed him a drum set. It used to belong to John’s son, but he sadly passed away years prior, and left his set to his father.
“Him giving me his sons’ old drumset really meant a lot to me,” Peraldo said.
Him learning the drums gave him something to work towards.
From learning how to play in different ways to learning how to read sheet music, Peraldo explored this new hobby.
Seeing the different notes on the measure correlates to a different part of the drum kit. The snare, kick, tom, cymbal, and in some cases, cowbell.
Now, after learning through different means, he was jamming out by himself, when he had a thought, “What if I were in a band?” so he got together with a friend of his, who played guitar, and teamed up with another friend who then started to learn the bass.
After some play sessions, Peraldo and the bassist learned that their guitarist friend was somewhat flaky, and started to look for another bandmate.
After finding the new guitarist, and solidifying the name “The Confessions” they started to jam out even harder.
Mostly performing covers to songs, but they hope to start producing their own music in the near future.
“I’m not sure where we’re gonna go, but I’m fine with seeing where it goes,” Peraldo said.
Having started spreading their music on Instagram, “The Confessions” are sure to make waves one day, and are almost ready to start looking for venues to perform at.
The only way for them to go is up, and as anticipation grows, so does their desire to expand their music and hopefully perform their own music.
All the luck to “The Confessions”.
