The Lakeland High school volleyball team has started their season as we wrap up summer and begin the school year.
The team has played two games so far this season, although it’s not the most ideal start the team was looking for with a record of 0-2, there are plenty of games ahead of them with plenty of opportunities to turn this season around.
The Hawks kicked off their season opener against the Coeur d’Alene Vikings and battled their hardest. The final score ended with a sweep by the Vikings winning all three sets against the Hawks.
Lakeland then proceeded to their next game against the Post falls Trojans looking for a bounce back win after being dealt the loss previously.
Sadly the Hawks did not get the outcome they were looking for, falling behind 3-1 sets.
Despite the rough start to the season, the Hawks have many players showing out every chance they get.
Senior Alyssa Ryckman leads the team in kills with a whopping 20. A very impressive stat line but that’s not all she leads the team in. She also leads in kills per set with a 3.3 average and along with that she leads in hitting percentage with a 0.200 PCT.
The Hawks now look forward to their next game at home against the Lake City Timberwolves.
With a start like the Hawks have had they are ready for the great feeling of a win, and what better way to get it than at home in front of all the Hawk fans.
