As high school juniors enter the fourth quarter and start to reach the end of their third year, anticipation starts to build up for their upcoming and last year of high school.
The thought of being a senior can be exciting and scary at the same time.
“I think that senior year can be scary for tons of people because it is like their last year still being a kid.” Alex Schroeder said.
There are many exciting things to look forward to when starting senior year.
Some of those things are senior pictures, prom, senior sunrise and sunset, getting seniority, and not having to take any SATs.
From many junior’s perspectives, senior year is like a reward and final ending to all of the hard work they have been putting in all throughout highschool.
Senior year can also be fun because you are looked up to by the underclassmen and you are finally the oldest grade at your school.
“I am excited for senior year because we will finally be able to stand up front during football games and most of us do not have to go to school as much.” Junior Bridget Derbyshire said.
Senior year can also be a preview for what college will be like. This is because most parents start to become more laid back since most seniors are turning 18 that year. Also, seniors get to start planning their futures such as applying for college, choosing where to live, and moving out in the near future.
While applying for these colleges, students can finally see all their work pay off when they get accepted into their dream schools.
Many juniors will look forward to cherishing special activities and traditions their senior year.
“I am excited for the senior sunrise at the beginning of the school year and seeing all of my classmates again for the first time in a while.” Chloe Neff said.
Seniors also get perks of the grade they are in.
Sometimes it is small things like getting to leave the school assembly before everyone else, but it feels nice getting to have benefits.
Senior year can also offer more flexibility for the students’ schedules. For example, besides English, history, and a few other required classes, students get to choose a good amount of their schedule at school.
They can finally choose classes that fit their interests and what they might want to do in the future.
While parts of senior year can be stressful for students, it is important to make the most of the year since it is the last one of your high school years.
