Work ethic is important because your whole life revolves around work.
Work is important because we will work almost our whole lives, whether it’s Youtube, Teaching, Welding, Etc.
Everyone in life has worked at some point, why not start working young?
Kids nowadays don’t want to work and think they will be able to succeed on social media but that is very hard to do.
With every social media platform having its own algorithm, the only way you would have a chance to grow and make money fast would be by posting every day.
A great first job for a young worker would be at a restaurant, store, or even side work for a family friend.
Once you make your first paycheck you feel great, like a whole new person and when you save money and see the balance go up and up it’s like you’re living on top of the world.
When you turn eighteen you’re finally an adult and in the first year of turning eighteen most people move out to live alone with some roommates.
Either way you’re finally on your own and in the real world.
No one gets us ready for the real world, nobody shows us how to pay taxes, how to buy a house, how to buy a car. Although classes exist to teach these skills, many do it poorly or take way too long to explain.
“When you turn 18 it honestly sucks,” Mr. Ballard said “ It gets better and you figure it out.”
People turn 18 and think they are free but they really aren’t free, they have to work a nine to five, pay bills, buy a house, and just try to be an adult.
Most adults you talk to tell you to stay a kid as long as you can and to not grow up.
There is a point of growing up where you think you are mature but that is not true.
Planning for when you become an adult is a very crucial part of your life.
it can truly determine whether you are successful or not.
Planning to work full time or work multiple jobs part time are good ideas but what are you going to do to have a constant income?
Ways to have a constant income are renting out houses, owning a business, and investing in the right stocks.
“I would find a good paying job and save up as much money as I can,” Dom Hinderman said “ I would be smart with my money to make it last. It is what it is honestly.”
I hope that all the seniors graduating this year have a plan and know how to be an adult.
From everyone at Lakeland High School, we all wish you the best.
