On July 20, 1969, the world was watching in awe as Neil Armstrong became the first person ever to land on the moon and place our nation’s american flag on it.
Many people trust in the moon landing but some facts about it caused curious minds to wonder.
In July of 1969, America supposedly landed on the moon and got the title of “having the first person walk on the moon” which caused many individuals to question if it actually happened.
Neil Armstorng declared “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Some people are still skeptical about the moon landing to this day.
According to Royal Museums Greenwich, they say that the main conspiracy theories from the fake moon landing were from the Apollo 11 US flag looking like it was flowing in the wind, but there is no wind on the moon.
Many of the conspiracies stem from the skeptical photographs taken at the time that can be viewed differently by each individual.
“I think some people don’t believe in the moon landing because the facts can get twisted.” Hunter Avriett said.
Apparently there were no stars in the photo of Apollo on the moon. This has led people to believe that the moon landing photos were staged. The opposing side says that the lack of stars in the photos was caused by the bright daylight from the moon which caused them to become faint.
Certain images from the moon landing showed strange lighting including multiple shadows at different angles, which caused people to believe that there was artificial lighting present.
According to NASA, a lethal radiation dosage is three hundred rads per hour, this causes skeptics to strongly believe that there is no way the landing could have happened since Neil Armstrong went through the Van Allen Belt without getting harmed in any way.
At the time of the moon landing, the United States still had many technological limitations. The technology of the 1960’s was not advanced to the extent of allowing people to travel to the moon safely. They question how the computers could get people there that are far less powerful than the modern day Iphone.
“There are a decent amount of theories and conspiracies that can lead people to question if it was real but I think it actually happened,” Keanan Gannaway said.
Another theory is that people think that since we have not travelled to the moon since our first and only landing, we never landed in the first place.
The United states were originally motivated to go to the moon due to their competition with the Soviet Union to be the first ever country to walk on the moon.
Throughout the 1970s there were plans to establish a permanent lunar base before starting their next major space exploration which was Mars.
The opposing side of the argument says that the United States was dealing with bigger issues such as the Vietnam war at the time.
But the question is why has no one ever gone since then?
The opposing side believes that the moon landing backs up their fights with the facts that if the United States faked the moon landing the Soviet Union would have every reason to rat them out, but they did not.
“I think the moon landing was an important time in history that showed how technology advanced over the years,” Bridget Derbyshire said.
They also say that one of the strongest pieces of evidence that the moon landing was real is the piece of lunar rock that Neil Armstrong brought back from the mission.
Apparently there was part of the rock and soil samples that were returned from the Apollo missions.
They contain isotopic and mineral compositions that are completely different from the earth or meteorites.
Another argument on the side of pro – moon has said there is a lack of credible contradictory evidence to make the conspiracy be true.
For example, the lack of stars in the photo is from the exposure settings. The flag was waving due to the astronauts twisting it into place. The Van Allen Belt effect was supposedly calculated by NASA and they found that the astronauts passed through them quick enough to obtain any harm from the belt.
