In just a few short weeks, Senior Annalie Terzulli will be packing her bags and heading to the University of Alabama to study chemical engineering with a biological focus.
She chose this major because she is interested in creating medical devices and immunotherapy treatments. It is a type of cancer treatment that uses a patient’s own immune system to kill the cancer.
Even though she is excited about her new endeavors. New adventures call for additional fears.
The University of Alabama is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is 33 hours away from here. Which is something Terzulli is fearful of.
“I am driving 33 hours from anyone and everything I have ever known, which is terrifying,” Terzulli said.
This is not her only fear.
She is also worried about who she will be sharing her living arrangements with.
Even though she took a test for compatibility to be paired with three other roommates, she is still worried she will be stuck with people she is not in favor of.
“I am going to miss Annalie so much since she is my best friend, but I also know that she is going to do amazing things,” Elizabeth Duce said.
Along with this, she knows no one there and so it is a little scary to think about traveling somewhere to begin a whole new life, alone.
She is also worried about maintaining a high GPA like she has throughout high school. Since more is weighing on this GPA, If it falls below a 3.0 she will lose her scholarships which pays for her out of state tuition.
One of the scholarships she earned is called the Engineering Excellence scholarship for $2,500 a year. However, that is the more minuscule of the two.
The other one she earned is named the Presidential Scholarship, which is for $28,000 a year.
Collectively, these are worth a big chunk of money, so she is concerned that she will lose it all. Which is a common fear among new college students.
Along with her high school career coming to an end, so will the laughs in her car during lunch hour, her visits with her teammates even after the season ended, and so will staying in her room she has made mirror her seventeen-year-old self.
“I’m going to miss my friends, family, cheer, and Idaho itself,” Terzulli said.
Terzulli expressed her love for the territory we all know as Idaho. Even though she wants to get away and experience something new after living here her whole life. She cannot deny how gorgeous the scenery is within this state that we have the privilege of living in.
“It’s amazing up here,” Terzulli said.
Yet, Idaho’s scenery isn’t the only scenery she has fallen in love with.
She also fell for the University of Alabama campus. She went to visit and was immediately enchanted by how amazing the campus truly was.
She then looked into their majors to see if they had one that would be a good fit for her.
Luckily, she found a major that was a perfect fit for her to go along with this seemingly perfect campus that she is so excited to call home for the next four years.
