With her heartwarming smile and enthusiastic personality, Kylee Justesen never fails to brighten up the room.
Justesen is a sophomore at Lakeland High School who has a strong will when it comes to playing volleyball.
Justesen plays for a competitive volleyball team, the Riptides; playing volleyball gives her the opportunity to learn and grow both physically and mentally.
She is able to spend a lot of time with her teammates both on the court and off, which allows them to work in a more synchronized way.
Justensen’s role in the team is to block the other team’s jump serves; she likes this position because it allows her to participate in a very competitive way.
She has found that although she is not an incredibly high jumper, through hard work and effort she is able to push herself to be better than before.
As part of a team, she has learned that every person, no matter how small their part, plays an important role; otherwise, a team can not be a team.
Although she has enjoyed her time in volleyball, she has found that some of the best things that she may do is spending time doing something creative or peaceful.
Justesen is a huge competitor on the court, but painting or reading has been her outlet to peace.
As an introverted artist of many talents, she has come to find it to be a calming state to watch her favorite shows while painting simple but fun designs on rocks.
In addition, art allows Justesen to take some time to move slowly and enjoy the little things in her life.
Although she has found her favored activities spending time with her closest friends and family, she finds that reading is one of the greatest parts of life.
Justesen enjoys reading many different books; however, she favors reading romance novels or books that include a dystopian world.
One of Justesen’s favorite books is The Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score.
However, overall any book that allows her to sit back, relax, and just imagine is worth reading for her.
Although she adores reading these deep and symbolic books, when it comes to watching a show or movie, she prefers something lighthearted and funny.
Hobbies are of great importance to remove any form of boredom, but during school Kylee must find any other form of entertainment.
A class with great pleasure fulfills this need greatly, Justesen has found that Brian Williams’ health class has become one of her favorite classes because of the fun and inviting atmosphere that the teacher has created.
“She is an exceptional student, but an even better person; she has a great character,” Williams said.
But as it is almost the end of the school year, it is almost time for summer to begin and you may see Justesen embarking in a different activity than other parts of the year.
As long as she can find the time, she loves to swim. It is the most refreshing and calming time when spent in the water. Especially when the hot sun is no longer being shaded by the clouds.
