Day 1 at districts went well with Frank McCarthy, Parker Sterling, Mason Hensley, Jackie Robbins, Brayden Carrel, Beth Roth, Anabel Bowie, and Levi Abbott qualifying for state.
Day 2 at districts was held at Lewiston High School, May 9.
Sapphire Ruelle is a district champion for the 100-meter with a 12.72. She also qualified for the 200-meter with a 25.68, coming in second.
Ryan Engelbrecht is a district champion in the 800-meter, with Jayden Dan-Johnston coming in second behind him taking second place.
“I was surprised because I did not plan on running that race at the start of the season,” Engelbrecht said. “I hope to get in the top six and come home with a medal. I am going to pace myself with someone with the top times.”
Charlie Mattila and McCarthy took second and third in the 1600 meters.
“I feel good, it was a hard race, I was being pushed by other kids, so I was happy with my placement,” Mattila said. “My goal in state is not to get last I am just there to have fun with friends, I am not worried about how I place.”
Karstyn Kiefer took second in the 300-meter hurdles, punching her ticket to state.
The 4×100 girls relay team took second and Casey Foster, Melia Gilbert, Karstyn Kiefer, Ruelle, will be going to state.
Ekahi Hamilton, Jaxon Cysewski, Peyton Sardinha, Kage Weil took third in the 4×200.
Kapree Kiefer, Cysewski, Gilbert, Kiefer took second in the girls 4×200.
The 4×400 Engelbrecht, Ethan Hunt, Apolo Gratzinger, Jaron Yager took third, in the women’s 4×400 Kapree Kiefer, Gilbert, Ruelle, Karstyn Kiefer, also took second.
In the 1600 SMR Gratzinger, Hensley, Yager, Engelbrecht took second.
Peyton Hillman took third in Javelin with a throw of 141′ 1.
Kros O’Brien took third in the boys’ high jump, and in the girls’, Reesa Saxe took third.
In the final team scores the Hawks came in second for the girls track team scoring a 61 and the boys scoring a 75.
