The Lakeland Hawks softball team came up just short against the Skyview Hawks in a win or go home single.
Skyview came out on top with a devastating score of 15-0.
Lakeland’s defeat dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Skyview, they are on a roll lately: they’ve won eight of their last nine contests. That’s provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season.
This loss concludes the Lakeland Hawks 2025 season and what a season it was for the Hawks. Clearly not the exact way you want a season to end but there are plenty of stunning takeaways from this season for all players and coaches.
Skyviews pitching was truly phenomenal pitching an absolute shutout in a big time game. Pitching wasn’t the only thing that this Skyview team was succeeding in, at the plate they dominated putting up a whopping 15 runs.
“We were lacking communication and overall just was a tough situation,” Katie Dewey said.
In any sport when facing any team there’s always gonna be one side that is just doing certain things in order to win. That’s the beauty of sports, it really can go both ways, some days a team is hot and some days the other team is hotter.
A team could be doing all the right things and be playing well but sometimes the game just wont go your way.
This Hawks team has had a very impressive season on the mound and at the plate. Putting up double digit runs in many league games and taking big wins when needed.
As of now for the Hawks it’s time to reevaluate and perfect their craft.
For many players this summer travel ball is a huge component of getting better for next season.
One thing about this Lakeland team is giving up is never an option, this team will be back and back for more.
