“Some people start with a passion, some people find it along the way, me… I was born with it.” A quote that starts off Landen Burmeister’s Film Festival video.
Burmeister said he started dirt biking from the moment he could walk.
He loves dirt biking because it gives him an adventure and freedom.
“I was only two years old when I started learning how to ride a dirt bike. Most kids were learning how to walk, I was learning how to ride,” Burmeister said.
Burmeister mentioned in the video that he has learned many things throughout the years he has been riding.
He has been taught discipline, hard work, and all that it takes to ride a dirt bike.
His film visualizes the true meaning of dirt biking through the eyes of a committed rider.
“As I got older riding turned from just a hobby into a way of life,” Burmeister said.
Whenever Landen has a free weekend he makes sure to hit the trails. He does not only do it to just ride but to push himself to new limits from what he is capable of.
“It is motivational to ride alongside of Landen because he is a very persevering person and does not quit. He shows me good characteristics and helps me become better,” one of Landen’s dirt biking friends, Mason Kirk said.
Burmeister explained how most people just think that dirt biking is about twisting the throttle, but it is so much more that people do not understand.
“It’s about knowing your machine inside and out and being able to push through the toughest conditions,” Burmeister said.
Burmeister has had setbacks such as crashes and broken bikes but is lucky enough to have not broken any bones.
“The bike is a machine but also is an extension of you,” Burmeister said.
He explains how there are hours, maintenance, and fine tuning that go into preparing to make the rides happen.
There have been many times that Burmeister has had to do a top end on his bike right before a race and if it is not done good enough it can affect his performance throughout the race.
But it can be helpful by letting him know what he needs to do better the next time.
When being asked what it is like raising a kid that rides dirtbikes, Burmeister’s mom, Shannon Burmeister said,“It is a healthy fear mixed with a lot of pride”.
She goes on to talk about how all of the sacrifices they have made to allow him to continue on in the sport, and the benefits is that it has built Landen a ton of character.
“I am friends with Landen because he is a nice and honest guy who does his own thing and will always help everyone out with things when needed,” one of Burmeister’s friends, Frank Ferriola said.
Burmeister ends his video with saying “I will keep riding dirt bikes for as long as possible and I love the sport even more everyday.”
