The first round of track districts began at Coeur D’Alene high school, on May 8.
The 5A districts include Moscow Bears, Sandpoint Bulldogs, Lewiston Bengals, and the Lakeland Hawks.
The Lakeland Hawks already have some qualifiers with PR’s made for some of the Hawks who will be heading to state.
Frank McCarthy is the district champion for the 3200, and came in with a new PR. Parker Sterling came in second and will also be headed to state.
Mason Hensley took second place in long jump with a 20’10.
Jackie Robbins hit a PR and is another district champion in shot put with a throw of 37’6.5. She also won the discus.
“It feels good going into state winning both events at districts,” Robbins said, “I am looking forward to hopefully making another PR at state and hopefully placing in the top 5.”
Brayden Carrel is a district champion in shot put with a throw of 50’3, making him a new PR.
“Feels good being district champion, I have a pretty good chance of taking third, I am going for second though, and aiming to throw 51’,” Carrel said. “I am excited to be with my friends and throw.”
Beth Roth is the District champion in high jump.
Anabel Bowie took second in the triple jump.
Levi Abbott is the district champion in triple jump.
That is who has made state for track and field for day one, day two is being held at Lewiston high school May 9th.
