Aaliyah is the most enthusiastic and expressive person you could ever meet. Her extraordinary attitude makes every day just a little bit brighter. She is incredibly caring and very energetic, and make sure you don’t get too caught off-guard by her sarcastic remarks. More than anything, she is known for her amazing “rat’s of the world” shirt and her incredible love for music.
Q: What activities do you do outside of school?
A: I like to play bass a lot, and I like to listen to music, and I’ll occasionally run; doesn’t mean that I like it, but I do do it.
Q: What kind of music do you like?
A: I really like all music except for country music. I’m particularly attracted to nu-metal, which does exist– don’t let people tell you it doesn’t exist.
Q: Do you do any school activities?
A: I am in the Key club, and I do track.
Q: Why do you like track and Key club?
A: It’s very involved and it makes me feel like I’m actually a part of something. And although I’m not good at track, I really like it and I like all the people in it; they’re very encouraging even when I’m not so good.
Q: What is your favorite part of school?
A: I like talking to people, and I like getting to know people and being around a bunch of fun people.
Q: What is the hardest part about school for you and what helps you overcome that?
A: It gets stressful. I like being taught well, the teachers I like a lot.
Q: What is your favorite class?
A: I really like athletic conditioning because it’s structured, but it’s also kind of loose. So you’re getting stronger, but you don’t feel like you’re getting watched with a hawk eye. I really like Mr. Kiefer because of that.
Q: Where is your favorite place outside of school?
A: I really like to be with my mom, but place wise, I like to be at home or in foresty places.
Q: What do you like about hanging out with your mom?
A: My mom is a very comforting and encouraging person, she listens really well so I’m not scared to tell her things.
Q: Do you have any plans after high school or anything that you are working towards?
A: Nothing is solidified. If I don’t have a plan by like 22, I’ve decided I’m joining the Air Force, so kind of like a time cut off. Like, if you don’t figure something out, you’re going there.
Q: Other than the military, what else would you want to do in life?
A: I’m thinking about something like forensics, like working with cases.
Q: How are you preparing for it?
A: I’m focusing on a lot of bodily sciences the next coming year, and then staying in math because that can be helpful apparently.
Q: How did you get interested in forensics?
A: I really like working, this is gonna sound bad, but I have a fascination with dead things. Like how it works. Or I find that watching things like that is very fascinating, like documentaries and how they figure out the death.
