The Lakeland Hawks faced off in a conference series against the Lewiston Bengals at home. The Hawks took an unfortunate 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lewiston Bengals in game one and another loss in game two with a score of 10-12.
This is the Hawks second series against the Bengals this season and they battled as hard as they could.
Reece Dutton was having a day despite her team’s loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Drake, who went 1-for-4 with one home run all in game one.
“We definitely stepped it up in the second game,” Delilah Zimmerman said.
The Second game of the series for the Hawks was kept close with a 10-12 score. The Hawks were not going down without a fight, and made these Bengals work for every single thing on the field.
Kiersten Drake and Jaiden Corbey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Drake went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Corbey went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Drake is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she’s now launched at least one in each of the last three games she’s played. Raygen Dutton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
The Hawks look ahead to their next games against the Moscow Bears. The last time Lakeland played the Bears it was a clean sweep from the Hawks with double digit scores in both games.
Lakeland looks to repeat this in their next series against the Bears.
Even though these next games will be on the road once again, the Hawks seem unaffected to this. Considering their last double header against Moscow was on the road as well.
The Hawks are sitting with a 8-18 overall record and a 6-6 league record, they look to extend that win column this coming week.
