The Lakeland Hawks softball team took on the Moscow Bears in a conference doubleheader. The Hawks came up with a clean sweep in Moscow, showing complete and utter dominance on both sides of the ball. The Hawks took the first game 16-5. The Hawks had two home runs included in that 16-5 win. Bats were on fire for the Hawks, and the scores in both games showed.
“These games really showed the talent we have at the plate,” Delilah Zimmerman said.
Lakeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better. Lakeland’s win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Moscow, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.
“It felt really good to win as a team,” Katie Dewey said.
Lakeland really put it all together in these games. All the team’s hard work truly shined throughout both games. Everyone on the team was playing for each other and that’s what makes this Hawks team so great.
This series could be a huge kick start into the rest of their season. The Hawks are diving straight into more league games with their next opponent being the Lewiston Bengals.
Going into this Lewiston series coming off two blowout wins against another league team is one of the best spots for this Lakeland team to be in.
“We really just need to keep the intensity and team morale high,” Zimmerman said.
Staying loud and proud is a key to success.
The Hawks will be taking home field advantage for this series and hoping that these Hawk fans get to witness the same clinic they put on down in Moscow.
“We’re all really excited, league games are always the best, especially at home,” Zimmerman said.
The Hawks are looking for once again another clean sweep and add some more wins to their record.
