The Lakeland Hawks had their last game before districts and fell short. The first one came to a loss of 11-1. The second one was a closer gam, ending at 9-8.
The first game had a struggle on the mound, switching through three pitchers in three innings.
Griffin Tamangi, who went 1-for-2 with one run, made it across the plate for the Hawks.
The second game was a close game with the Hawks taking a 5-2 lead, but the Trojans came back, making it 5-5. The score stayed close the whole time, but the game was called for daylight.
“It feels good, because they trust I can get on,” Tamangi said, “We made a lot of errors, so those need to be cleaned up. We also need to have a plan before the balls get hit.”
Nate Bevacqua and Tamangi were getting their bats going, and Bevacqua went 2 for 4 at the plate. Tamangi made it on the plate for all four of his plate appearances.
“I feel like it went well. I threw outs, my defense was not on point,” Brody Weitz said, “We need to improve our hitting and our defense.”
Weitz pitched for four innings, and Landon Puzio pitched for the remaining 2.
“Overall, the second was better than the first game, pitching and defense were better,” Puzio said.
