The Lakeland Hawks have overcome a losing streak and won their first game against Lake City Timberwolves on April 17, on Lake City’s field, 3-2.
Lakeland got a great performance from Brody Weitz as he didn’t allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.1 innings pitched.
“I just was thinking that I had to get to the next inning and that I had to get it done,” Weitz said, “It feels great helping my team this much, I am excited for the future and how I am going to do my junior and senior year.”
One of the hitters that made a difference in the game was Tadgh Ellwood, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
They fell short during the second game with a loss 17-5.
“Our pitching and team communication needs to be improved,” Weitz said.
But Griffin Tamangi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Nate Bevacqua and Tadgh Ellwood had two RBIs each in the second game for Lakeland.
The Hawks next game they will face the Lewiston Bengals on April 19, At Lakeland High School.
The Hawks have struggled against the Bengals the last few times they have seen them. The Bengals have been in a rough patch and are on a six game losing streak. While the Hawks did break their losing streak for one of the games vs the Timberwolves.
