The Lakeland Hawks Softball team had a close call winning their first game with a close one 15-14.
Lakeland got a massive performance out of Jaiden Corbey, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple. The triple was her first hit of her season.
Raygen Dutton, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI, definitely was a key player in scoring for the Hawks.
“I would say it feels satisfactory knowing I performed and did my job how it should be done in a league game,” Dutton said, “Our pitching definitely needs to improve, and an accumulation of defensive errors.”
They fell short in their second game losing their second game 26-10.
Jaiden Corbey was cooking despite her team’s loss, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4.
Ada Blakemore was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Looking ahead, Lakeland will face off against Lewiston at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully their luck can change and they will find a win during a conference game.
“I think we need to keep out offense and really clean up and lock in with our defense,” Dutton said.
