The Lakeland Baseball team is off to a solid start this season, building momentum with back-to-back wins.
Their first victory was a strong 6-2 finish, followed by an intense 9-8 win in their second game. These wins are crucial in boosting the team’s morale and confidence as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Sandpoint Bulldogs on April 10th.
On the hitting side, Jace Taylor proved to be a standout performer, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances and scoring a run.
“We have had more of those hits find gaps, than prior games,” Taylor said, “We need to focus on throwing strikes and hitting the ball.”
His consistent performance at the plate is a great asset for the team, as it shows his ability to reach base and create scoring opportunities.
Another key player was Cash Lund, who went 1-for-3 with a clutch triple and two RBI.
Lund’s contribution, particularly with the bat, was necessary in providing the team with extra runs, showing his ability to capitalize on scoring situations.
The team’s offense was further fueled by Jake Larcher, who contributed significantly with two runs scored and a stolen base. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate and collected his first RBI of the season.
Larcher’s all-around game not only helped the team offensively but also showcased his ability to contribute in multiple ways, adding a layer of versatility to Lakeland’s lineup.
Nate Bevacqua also had an excellent performance, going 1-for-1 with two RBI, proving that even limited plate appearances can lead to big results.
“Our defense has gotten a lot better,” Bavacqua said, “We just need to hit the strike zone and trust our defense.”
His perfect day at the plate helped ensure that Lakeland kept the pressure on their opponents.
One of the most impressive stats from the games so far is the team’s On-Base Percentage (OBP), which stood at a remarkable .739.
This indicates that the Lakeland hitters have been consistently reaching base, setting the stage for scoring opportunities and creating a solid foundation for future success.
This high OBP shows that the team is disciplined at the plate, drawing walks, and making solid contact.
As Lakeland moves forward into the next game, their focus will likely remain on maintaining this strong offensive approach, while continuing to tighten up their defense.
Their ability to get on base and move runners around will be key factors in their success against a tough opponent like the Sandpoint Bulldogs.
If they can carry this confidence and execution into their next matchup, they’ll be in a good position to keep the winning streak alive.
