Like many of the students at Lakeland High School (LHS), Cynthia Peck is preparing for a new chapter, leaving LHS to begin a new role at North Idaho College (NIC).
After nine years of coaching and six years as the bookkeeper for LHS, she is now moving on to become the assistant to the dean of registration at the NIC campus.
“It was a great opportunity to further my career,” Peck said.
She will still be around the Lakeland campus after hours, coaching the cheer team, but will no longer hold a position within the building.
March 27 was her last day working here at LHS.
“It is a bummer that I will not see her in school anymore,” Brittany Williams said.
She will still be around from time to time to help out the new bookkeeper get settled.
It can be a strange feeling reaching a moment you thought might never come. Every beginning has an end, but we rarely know when it will arrive. So, when it finally does, the experience can feel almost surreal.
“It’s weird because I will be here helping the new person, and it’s exciting, but I’m also going to miss everybody,” Peck said.
When working with people for six years, relationships are built with not only the coworkers but also the students.
It is always a bittersweet moment when someone leaves the Hawk family.
Peck will be missed, but LHS knows she will go on to do great things without us.
“I’m going to miss everybody, not just staff but also students, and I’m just so grateful for all the relationships I’ve built here,” Peck said.
This was a hard decision to make for Peck because she had to depart from those relationships. However, she knew that this was the best decision for her future, even though she was sad to close this door.
Still, when one door closes, another opens.
