When seeing Kyra in her element, it is normally either practicing injections on her peers or helping out Lakeside Pediatrics.
Kyra Lundt is a senior who is currently working towards her future plans while still in high school.
She attends KTEC almost full-time in the medical program.
This will lead her to eventually become a neurosurgeon.
Lundt has even experienced a taste of what it would be like to become a neurosurgeon. She had the opportunity to job shadow and that is what truly made her set on this path.
“This job fascinates me because you get the chance to see the inside works of the human body which is so fun to me,” Lundt said.
Not only does the brain fascinate her but so does the pairing with the brain and the spine.
“I want the chance to take a deep dive into the research of both of them,” Lundt said.
This is a great career choice for Lundt due to the increasing need for surgeons in almost every field.
“It will be a long journey with schooling and all but once I am there it will all be worth it,” Lundt said.
With her being in KTEC she is going to be as prepared as she can be to take the next steps after school.
“I have the best teacher at KTEC, Mrs.Berry, who has given me all the tools and resources I need to be a successful student,” Lundt said.
On Mondays she spends her time at KTEC practicing procedures such as finger pokes, blood draws and other important studies as well as taking a medication quiz.
She then takes the time to rest on Fridays.
But the rest of the week she spends time at her apprenticeship where she takes care of the children at Lakeside Pediatrics.
She will be starting out at North Idaho College (NIC) for her first years and then she hopes to move on to Idaho State University (ISU). She has already been accepted to both.
“I am mainly looking forward to helping people. That’s what I want to do with my life is take the time to help people who need it,” Lundt said.
