The Lakeland boys basketball team fell to the Sandpoint Bulldogs in devastating fashion as the loss concluded the Hawks 2025 season. The Hawks lost 51-53 in an absolute nail biter of a district game.
Lakeland was sent up north for one of their biggest games of the season and what a game it was.
Despite the loss from the Hawks, this was no roll over win for the Bulldogs. A close game from start to finish and an absolute showcase from both sides of the ball from both teams.
“Their shots were just falling when ours weren’t and it killed us late in the game” Jace Taylor said.
A game against a team such as the Bulldogs, you need your shots to be falling consistently and at a high rate. Every Time the Hawks play the Bulldogs it’s nothing short of a great show, sometimes it’s not in the Hawks favor but a blow out is not something that comes from these games at any point in the season.
After the very controversial buzzer beater the Bulldogs sunk for the win against the Hawks in a previous game, every time the Hawks have faced off against them since you can feel the tension. Weather it’s the players, or the fans, tension is always in the gym when the Hawks and the Bulldogs are playing.
“I try not to let it distract me but it definitely is always a personal game for us” Taylor said.
With the season now coming to an end it’s a bittersweet moment. Of course the goal is to go as far as a team can into the playoffs, but now the Hawks get to bounce back from this in the off-season knowing what they need to do in order to be successful coming into big games.
