The Lakeland athletes have been preparing all winter season for districts.
This past weekend the cheer and dance team have finally shown their hard work and have both qualified to compete in state.
“We had to re-block all of our dances because one of our dancers got injured, and I think we handled it really well,” Lilyann Still said, “I think it will be really hard because of the new competition but we are going out there and putting out our best performance.”
The Lakeland dance team has shown their outstanding skills and placed first for Lyrical and Hip Hop.
“I think that my team showed up in all aspects and they gave 110 percent and it showed on the dance floor,” Laura Kelly said, “We need to work on energy and stamina before we go perform at state.”
The cheer team will be taking two of their routines to state.
They placed second in the sideline routine at districts.
“I feel like we definitely could have been sharper and more in sync,” Brittany Williams said, “I think that we really worked together as a team and put our best foot forward to make state.”
They will also be competing Co-Ed in their show routine at state, after getting second at districts.
“I think the routine went well,” RJ Marquez said, “We could have been sharper in the routine. I think that is what hurt us the most. I believe we can do well at state, it truly is a team effort.”
The cheer team will perform the 28th of February and the dance team will perform the first of March, in Boise, ID.
Even without placing in these dances or routine dance will take their military routine down to state and cheer will bring their pom routine.
“We are going to be stricter with our movements and angles,” Kimber Magnus said, “I feel like we are going to do really good in lyrical, it is a stronger dance of ours. I am really excited for state and hanging out with my friends doing the sport I love.”
