Dance
The Lakeland Dance team competed in the Cupid Classic on Feb 8th in Post Falls.
They took second in HipHop, third in Military, and first in Dance.
“It went really well, we performed really well,” Still said, “It is helpful for districts because we went against Sandpoint.”
In they’re individual categories for turns, Kimber Magus got third, Lily Still got second, and Rowan McKinzie got first.
For the Kick category, Still got third and Aly Caywood got second.
In the HipHop dance down Caywood got third.
“As a team, we performed very well,” Caywood said. “Especially with making a lot of changes leading up to the competition.”
Wrestling
The Conrad Garner invitational is a Great wrestling tournament for the Lakeland Hawks.
They do two duals on Friday 7th and a tournament Saturday 8th. They won both the duals against Bonners Ferry, and Priest River.
After the tournament the team goes bowling, then spends the night at Bonner Ferry High School before the tournament.
They also tied the tournament with Post Falls and the girls took 5th. Overall there were ten finalists and seven third places, making seventeen placers. One girl and sixteen boys.
Teagan Patrick placed third after losing her first match.
Joziah Koonce took second after losing to Ty Wood at 98 pounds.
Caleb Adams took second at 106.
Kade Knopp took second at 113.
Carson Leonard at 120 and Jaron Knopp at 126 both took first place.
“I like bowling at Bonners Ferry,” Leonard said, “I wrestled four matches in four minutes so I did really well.”
Justin Baxter at 132, Cash Lund at 138, and Cole Cooper at 144 took second.
Austin Howell took first at 150 then at 157 Gage Mcwatters took second. At 165 Thayer Sabatke took second and Peyton Sardinha took third.
“I enjoy bowling so much,” Sardinha said, “I think I did well overall and I am performing very well before state.”
Finally at 285 Zane Grey got third place.
Overall the Hawks came to the tournament and wrestled their hardest and were still able to tie for first after losing two team points due to bad sportsmanship.
