Lakeland’s superintendent, Lisa Arnold, sent out posts today on Board Agenda topic requests she will be bringing up at the meeting today Feb. 5.
Two interesting requests that have stood out to the Lakeland community are the levy update and a four-day school week plan.
With questions and issues arising in the community of taxpayers being uninformed on the things that happen in the Lakeland School District and with plenty of false information being spread around to taxpayers, the district has been talking with Target River Marketing to get a Trust Capital Campaign to spread more information.
The district has secured the donations to fully fund this $20,000 for the service. This company creates video advertisements and commercials that are shown on streaming services and social media websites.
In the Levy update, Arnold writes, “The focus is to provide information via videos to Lakeland taxpayers. The information will highlight for our community the great things that are happening in Lakeland.”
There will also be available meetings over coffee at people’s houses to talk about the levy updates.
Many meetings are being scheduled and ways to inform the community about the levy are being set into motion with the help of tons. All meeting dates will be posted on the Board Calendar.
Another interesting proposal is a four-day school week. While many may not feel this is beneficial, a four-day school week would help the school save between $500,000 to $1,000,000.
It could additionally impact the district’s funding from the state with the increase of daily attendance.
KTEC may also switch to a four-day schedule next year because Post Falls not in school on Friday and Couer D’ Alene’s Friday schedule is adjusted.
The schedules can be found on the board schedule on Lakeland’s website under the “4 Day School Week” pdf.
These topics will be discussed tonight and decided upon the district.
