The Lakeland Hawks played in a once-in-a-lifetime game against Flathead High School. It was a non-conference game for both teams and an absolute show-stopper, going into triple overtime.
The Hawks came out on top with a 91-90 score, a hard-fought game until the end. The Hawks were playing great basketball on both ends of the court but the Braves were not ready for this game to end.
The Braves hit multiple at-the-buzzer threes to keep them in this game long enough to produce a comeback. The Hawks were well-conditioned and extremely mentally focused in all the overtime quarters allowing them to secure this win.
Senior Gabe Harris had a whopping 31 points being the leading scorer of the Hawks and leading them to their close call victory.
“We really played as a team that game and it helped a lot,” Gabe Harris said.
The Hawks are on a roll and they don’t plan on slowing down, especially for their rival game against the Sandpoint Bulldogs.
“We’re all super excited for this game, we’ve been waiting for this one,” Jace Taylor said. This will be the first time the Hawks see the Bulldogs all season and it’s on the biggest stage.
Pressure is on for both teams to put on a show and get a big one to help their schools secure the paddle. As of right now the Hawks have a better record this season than the Bulldogs and are ready to continue this big win streak with a trampling of the team up north.
The Bulldogs will get home court advantage this year hoping it can boost some Bulldog morale to get the paddle this year, but the Hawks are ready to shut it all down.
