The Lakeland Hawk boys’ basketball team played the CDA Vikings in a non-conference showdown. The Vikings won by a score of 79-35.
The Hawks are at a 0-3 to start their regular season.
While it’s Not an ideal start for the Hawks, this does not mean their season is in trouble. One of the great things about basketball is that there are plenty of games throughout the season and if a game is lost, there will be another one real soon to focus on.
The Hawks are also yet to play a team even relatively in their division, which can be hard on a team so early in the season with this stiff of competition.
“Wherever you go against the Vikings in any sport you always know it’s gonna be a battle,” Levi Abbot said.
CDA is known for its sports programs but the Hawks did not let it bother them, keeping the scores in the beginning of the game within two possessions and even one possession early on.
The stat line for lakeland was Yager 4, Roth 6, Cook 4, Hillman 4, Hensley 9, Carrel 8, Varner 0, Weil 0, Abbott 0, Larcher 0, Taylor 0, Lukey 0, Trevena 0. Compared to the Vikings stat line Murray 3, Rupp 10, Montague 2, Sylte 3, Booth 6, Riley 11, Wheeler 10, Symons 24, Robertson 8, Johnston 2.
There is a clear difference between the two teams but the Hawks still put up some solid points and are ready for the next one. The Hawks will take on Lakeside High school at Lakesides home court.
Lakeland will look to find their first win and get a spark going for this Hawks team.
