Lauren Peterson is a senior at Lakeland High School. While she works hard in the classroom and around the school, she also has pretty big future plans. Let’s hear what her plan is for after high school:
Q: Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
A: Hi, my name is Lauren Peterson. On weekends, I like to shoot, skeet, and trap. I am also very family-oriented.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I plan to do online college through U of I and get to work at my mother’s company, “North Idaho Propane.” I plan to get an associate’s degree just to complete through a business agreement, and if I want to complete it further, I will go for a Bachelor’s.
Q: Do you have a dream job or career in mind?
A: I always thought being a professional skeet and trap shooter would be cool. Through this career, you can qualify for the Olympics and possibly teach the youth.
Q: What is the process of getting your dream job?
A: Lots and lots of practice. Time and effort are key. While it is very expensive, I am passionate about it, so I am willing to take it.
Q: What inspired this choice?
A: When my dad took me shooting for the first time in Farragut, and I broke my first clay, I instantly fell in love, and it made me feel good. Seeing how proud my dad was made me feel special in the moment. Since then, I knew it was something I wanted to do and something I enjoyed.
Q: How do you see yourself making a difference in the future?
A: I have big plans to take over my mom’s business. I can see myself successfully running it because I am surrounded by a group of people I call family.
Q: What is your ultimate goal ten years from now?
A: I want to settle down and start a family on a big piece of land. I want to build my own home with a big porch and a bunch of animals, especially my chickens.
Q: Where do you ultimately want to be in life?
A: Anywhere where god plans me to be. Live through him and let him kind of just take the reins.
Q: Who has been your biggest influence?
A: My family, for sure. My family and friends have especially inspired me throughout my life and all of my decisions. They expect me to strive to succeed.
Q: What is one thing you hope people remember you for?
A: How good of a listener I was. Being able to talk to anyone and listen to their concerns and opinions. That people could see God’s light through me.
