Most people are afraid to express their feelings because they want to protect everyone else’s. That is not Olivia Villa.
“She is unapologetically herself,” Kylea Cummins said.
Olivia Villa is a junior at Lakeland High School (LHS).
Other than her bold personality, she is not afraid to show that she has an intriguing hobby.
Beekeeping. During the summer, she visits her uncle in Lewiston, Idaho, to help him with his bees. Her uncle originally began this hobby to prove a point. Someone simply told him he could not do it, and now it has turned into Villa’s summer vacation activity. Her uncle now has his own honey business. Villa eventually wishes to have her boxes as well. She helps him care for these bees and smokes them so he can take pictures.
“Bees symbolize a perfect community,” Villa said.
Villa finds the small insect society fascinating even though before she began this adventure, she could not stand the little beings she calls friends now.
Each hive can have its own personality, which is something not many people know.
“Beekeeper studies actually prove that they live longer due to the vibrations that bees give off,” Villa said.
Entire hives can also get sick and then must be treated.
“Bees are the coolest animal of all time,” Villa said.
Not only is she a developing beekeeper, but she is also an avid concert attendee.
She has been to various concerts. Her favorite concert was Korn because they are her favorite band of all time.
“Music brings change,” Villa said.
She funds all of her concert expenses and works many hours during the week to support this hobby.
However, her favorite concert experience was at Alice in Chains because she was handed a guitar pick from the stage.
Like every teenager, she takes time to put together an outfit every day. But this year, her peers recognized her as the best-dressed girl in the junior class.
She often wears baggy graphic tees with jeans and lots of accessories. Sometimes, she layers her shirts with long and short sleeves.
When she compliments your outfit, you know she means it.
She is always a fun person to be around and is always having a good laugh.
