The Lakeland Hawks Volleyball team came into state ranked number one seed. Twin Falls came at them strong in the first game on Oct 31. Lakeland ended up getting swept the first game.
That put them on the other side of the bracket, and they had to win 6 games instead of 3 to get back into the championship game.
On Nov 1 they went back into the games swinging, beating Middleton with a sweep. Right after Middleton they played Pocattalo, beating them 3-1.
Addy Hocking had a great game with 31 digs.
“I feel like after the first game, our team talked, and we had to have a lot of energy so Liv and I kept the energy up so our hitters could rest,” Hocking said, “It was definitely a team effort, but I really tried to keep the energy up and cheer for all my teammates. My favorite memory was the bus ride with the music. I will miss the bond I have with the team and hanging out with them every day.”
On November 2 they beat Wood River in a Sweep.
Ziya Munyer was on fire throughout the game 18 kills.
Olivia Zazuetta was a big part of the game with 43 assists. Landree Simon also finished the game with two aces.
Then continued their winning streak beating Idaho Falls 3-1.
Hocking had another great game with 29 digs. Lakeland was locked down at the net, having 11 blocks throughout the game.
They made an amazing comeback and made it into the championship game. They beat Twin Falls in a sweep and had one more game to take the championship back home. They came up short in the final game, losing 2-0.
Despite the loss, Hocking had 9 more digs and 2 aces.

“On the last point, it felt like the whole world came to a stop,” Alyssa Ryckman said, “We worked all season, and second is still amazing, but we all wanted first. It felt surreal. We are going to come back mentally stronger and take back what’s ours. It’s a loss that should not have happened.”
