The Lakeland volleyball team is on a four-game winning streak, easily trumping opponents. The last three games have been blowouts, with Lakeland winning all three 3-0.
The Lewiston game was truly a spectacle. Lakeland never let off the pressure, leaving Lewiston no time to counterattack. The Bangles could not keep up, leaving them exposed to Lakeland’s great hitting and serving.
“I believe the Lewiston game went really well. Our passing and hitting were very good and consistent throughout the whole game,” Landree Simon said.
Similarly to the Lewiston game, the Hawks dominated Lake City with their smart tactics and constant pressure. Although Lake City ran a different rotation than usual, Lakeland could figure it out and still pull away with the victory.
The Moscow game may have ended the same as all the others, but it was a different story in the beginning. Moscow really had Lakeland stumped starting out, but as the match progressed, the Hawks were able to figure out their strategy and pull it back for the win.
The Hawks’ last three games really showed what they can do. The Hawks can really dominate at times, especially with their continuous strong pressure. They sure have a chance to go all the way this year with such a special team.
I think we have been playing very well these past couple of games. Our communication has been amazing, and we have really stepped up our play,” Alyssa Rickman said.
Right now, the Hawks are ranked number two in the 5A conference, and these past victories have only helped them get closer to every team’s goal of someday winning the state championship.
Although no team is completely perfect.
“Maybe just our drive to get started from the beginning of the game rather than letting our opponents battle back and forth for the first part of the sets,” Rickman said.
Although Lakeland has been destroying these past couple of games, they need to keep up the pressure. Their next game is very important, as it is against their rival school, Sandpoint, on Oct 22.
