It was a heated match, and suddenly she went down.
Paige Rose was a star player on Lakeland High School’s varsity soccer team, so for her to take a hit meant a lot to the game.
A torn ACL and a frayed meniscus removed her from the field for what could be close to a year.
“I have physical therapy for the next six weeks once a week, and I meet with my surgeon on, Oct. 14, to discuss when surgery will take place. They said I will be out for about 9-12 months so I will be missing my club season and districts, and most likely will not be able to play next year,” Paige Rose said.
Such an injury has a huge impact on Paige both physically and mentally. She is a very outgoing and fun person to be around. She is always doing something, so this injury has impacted her both inside and outside of school.
“I feel like I am always on the go so when I am not doing something I get in a dark place,” Rose said.
Not being able to do the things that have shaped her life, has hurt the person she is.
Through everything, her contagious smile and laugh have still shown through, making her one of the strongest people I know.
Although Piage’s future is unknown, she still has big dreams and aspirations.
She plans on taking the next season of LHS soccer off and focusing on working on herself so she can be stronger and better than ever when she returns.
“I am just not going to play high school soccer again so I can focus on getting stronger and going to physical therapy,” Rose said.
With everything that has happened during her injury, Paige has a lot of feelings built up about the whole situation. For her life to take such a drastic turn, has affected her.
“Obviously I can’t play so not being able to do the things I love the most, forces me to just lay in bed and cry thinking about it. It makes me so mad because I can’t play or do much right now,” Rose said.
Her friends and teammates are hoping and praying for her speedy recovery so she can get her spark back and hit the field once again.
With her gone, the team has not been the same.
“The team kind of fell apart, especially during games. She helped a lot during games, and was easily the hardest-working player,” Natalee Rose said.
With such a big leader gone, the team has suffered a huge loss.
The spirit and drive she brought to the team are missing, and it will not be the same without her.
Her sister, Natalee Rose has seen firsthand how much this injury has affected Paige.
“She can’t play the sport that she loves, and it has had a negative effect on her. It is making her lose the love she has for her favorite sport,” Natalee Rose said.
Paige had a huge impact on everyone on the team, so hopefully her recovery will be quick.
Through this experience, Paige has realized just how important it is to not take anything for granted.
“I have learned a lot, but especially to not take anything for granted. You don’t know what is going to take you out of your sport, so enjoy it while you can,” Rose said.
