The Lakeland high school sports continue working their hearts out in the game they love.
The girl’s soccer team has had three games in the week. Their team has lost quite a few girls in the past week, so they are trying to find new footing. They played Lakecity on Oct. 1st and lost 5-0. On Oct. 3rd, they played a conference game against the Sandpoint Bulldogs and lost 6-1. Then on Saturday, Oct. 5th, they played against the Moscow Bears and lost 3-0.
“I feel like we can improve one having more of a personal connection with each other,” Violet Stone-Fenton said, “I feel like if we had more personal connection we would play better on the field. Skill-wise, I think we need to know what plays we need to make and how to work better as a team, we are very separated.”
The boy’s soccer team is also trying to find better footing.
“I think we played pretty good,” Lucas Vasquez said, “We figured out how to work with the ball. We need improvement on working as a team.”
They played Lakecity on Oct.1st and lost 5-0. Then, on Oct. 5th, they lost against the Sandpoint Bulldogs in a conference game 5-0. However, they did tie their conference game with the Moscow Bears 2-2.
“We need to work on talking one on and off the ball,” Cade Pittman said.
The cross-country team has been showing up for Lakeland. On Oct. 5th, the boys’ team came in second place, beating out all the 5A schools in our district. They have been working hard and are hopefully going to take a solid team to state.
“I think we are going to win districts,” Parker Sterling said, “We are training more intensely and it’s helping us when we go to races. I did not hit any more tree branches, it was a fast race. Some of my teammates have personal records. I think we are going into districts really strong.”
