Lakeland High School (LHS) is showcasing its school pride with a new design on the entrance and gym doors. Bright flashes of green and yellow now greet students and visitors.
“It enhances our school pride and catches your eye,” Maya Keck said, “also, it adds an extra layer of protection for the school.”
One of the standout features of the new wraps is that they prevent outsiders from seeing in and allow those inside to have a clear view outside.
This transformation was made possible by the LHS Booster Club. Initially, the plan was to install a backlit metal framework featuring the school mascot, the Hawk. However, Jacquie Neff suggested a door wrap that would be visually appealing and functional.
Despite annual repainting, the intense sun had taken its toll on the doors. The wrap is a long-lasting solution expected to last for around five years.
At a cost of $4,000, this improvement will save the school both time and money in maintenance.
The installation was completed in a single day, as the project required ideal weather conditions to ensure proper adhesion. Starting at 8 AM on a Tuesday, the team worked efficiently to finish by the end of the school day.
The design had collaborative input from booster club members, staff, and students, who voted on modified versions of the design.
“I want you all to have the coolest school around, something to be proud of,” Neff said.
