The Lakeland Hawks football team took on the Frenchtown Broncs in a non-conference home game.
The Broncs dealt a devastating blow to the Hawks, defeating them 14-7 and ending their undefeated run. Frenchtown now has a 3-0 record, while the Hawks’ record drops to 3-1.
The Broncs defense came ready to play shutting down the Lakeland offense all game until the 4th quarter when quarterback Haydon Benson connected with wide receiver Jarron Yager for a touchdown.
On the other hand, the Broncs offense came out swinging and scored in the 1st quarter right away. Even though the Hawks were trailing behind throughout the game, it did not break their spirit. The Hawks played every snap with intensity and tried their hardest no matter what the scoreboard said.
“A football game is never over till it’s over and that’s the mindset I’ve always had when down,” Cash Lund said.
The Hawks are ready to come to practice this week with a clean slate and focus on the next game.
“You get the weekend to feel sorry for yourself and after that you have to wipe your memory and focus on that week’s game,” Lund said.
Coming up this week for the Hawks is the undefeated Post Falls Trojans. There is always a little of rivalry in the air when the Hawks and the Trojans face each other and LHS have some unfinished business from last year. After losing to Post Falls last year on the opposing teams’ homecoming game, it’s time for the Hawks to focus up this week in practice and get ready to do the same to the Trojans on the Hawks homecoming game.
“Ive been waiting for this game all season,” Jace Taylor said.
Coming off a loss is hard, especially when you have such a match-up the following week, but keep morale up is a must and having a clear head for this homecoming game is huge.
“We want this win more and we need it more,” Taylor said.
This Showdown will be one of the hardest games the Hawks will play this year and this game will be one to watch, no doubt.
The Lakeland Hawks are hungry for a bounce-back win coming off last week’s loss, facing the Post Falls Trojans looking to keep this undefeated season alive and show out at the Hawks big game.
A matchup that will not disappoint in the slightest.
