The Lakeland Lady Hawks volleyball team made history by winning the state championship in Kimberly, Idaho.

Lakeland finished the regular season 10-6 and then pulled off three wins in Kimberly over the weekend to win the Idaho state championship.

Not only did the Hawks pull off wins against Preston, Burley, and Middleton, but they didn’t lose a set all weekend.

They beat Preston 25-19 in both of the first two sets and 25-16 in the third set. In this game, which was the first of three sweeps for the Hawks, the big playmakers were Katy Ryan, who had 22 kills and three blocks, and Abbey Neff had 25 assists and three aces.

The Hawks beat Burley 25-19 in the first two sets and 25-21 in the final set of their second sweep for the weekend. Katy Ryan also dominated in this game with 17 kills, four blocks, and 14 digs.

Lakeland finished off the state championship weekend with a 25-18 win in set one, a 26-24 win in the second set, and a 25-23 win in the third and final set to win the state championship against Middleton.

In their championship victory, Olivia Cooper had 17 digs, while Abbey Neff had 23 assists, and Katy Ryan again had 23 kills.

This is the first Lakeland state championship in any sport since competing at the 4A level.
