Hawks beat Timberlake in Late-Game Thriller

Liam Bradford, Sports Editor

The Lakeland Hawks (3-2) traveled to Spirit Lake, Idaho to face off against the Timberlake Tigers (1-3). The Hawks were favored entering the game, and eventually came out on top, 20-13 in a close battle with the Tigers.

It was a tough battle throughout the entirety of the game, and Timberlake gave the Hawks all they could handle. The Hawks’ offense didn’t appear to show up until the fourth quarter and the Tigers stuck with them the whole time.

Timberlake led 7-6 after the first quarter due to a 36-yard touchdown pass from Ashton Peightal to Zach Yetter. They held that lead until the second half.

In the fourth quarter, the Hawks scored two quick touchdowns coming back from being down 13-6.

Both defenses played well however, John White, running back for Lakeland, rushed for 90 yards and got two touchdowns leading the Hawks to victory in this thrilling Friday night game.

Devon Suko connected with Ammon Munyer in the end zone with seconds remaining to seal the victory

Lakeland will play their next game on Oct. 9 against Moscow in the Kibbie Dome at 7 p.m.
