I’m Hungry… Hi hungry, I’m dad.

Simply not funny.

We all know the situation when an old guy or dad tells you a dad joke and you have to fake a laugh to make them feel cool. 

The definition of a dad joke is an unoriginal or unfunny joke of a type supposedly told by middle-aged or older men.

Tim Keifer, the weights teacher is known to tell terrible dad jokes daily. “I use dad jokes to lighten the mood. I think it’s something that can help kids relate to old dads in a not cool way.”

 His favorite is, “A string walks into a bar and tries to buy a drink and the bartender says that they don’t serve strings. The string goes outside to the road and pulls the top of his string head to fray the top of it, then goes back into the bar. The bartender asks if he is the string that just came in and the string says… I’m a frayed knot”.  

Teachers’ use of jokes is probably to grow a relationship through laughter, but they seriously need to find new material. 

Trey South is a Junior at Lakeland High School, “I use dad jokes or just jokes in general when I’m in awkward situations. My favorite is, what do you call an old snowman?… water.”

I think dad jokes are hilarious because they are simply not funny and usually dads think they are super funny. The idea that they are not funny makes them funny. 

As I walked throughout the school I was continuously told about the alleged dad joke king. John Keating tells a dad joke on the daily in every one of his classes making him a king. ¨Choosing my favorite dad joke is hard, but if I had to choose my favorite it would be the one about the doctor and the engineer¨.

“If a doctor is good at what he does and an engineer is great at what he does then how is a farmer?… outstanding in his field,¨ said Keating.

The way that the dads tell the joke makes them that much better and funnier. 

My favorite is “How do you follow Will Smith in the snow?… You follow the fresh prints.” or ¨What do you cow with no legs?… ground beef¨. 

People should tell more dad jokes to bring humor into their lives.
