Seniors this year are eager to move on to the next step in their lives and be finished with high school. As the seniors get closer to graduation, they have fears that arise about becoming an adult in the real world.

Seniors getting ready to leave high school will have memories that will impact their life forever. Dawson Darrington claims, “It’s kinda weird being the older kid around town. High school was wonderful. Prom was definitely the best part of high school. The battle for the paddle was also very fun.”

Raine Cramer, another senior at Lakeland, thinks differently about being a senior this year. “It’s pretty scary, there are a lot of things coming my way, so it’s kind of anxiety-inducing. I’m really excited for the senior all-night party. I’ve been looking forward to it for a while.”

Some of the seniors have plans, and others are not fully prepared to be on their own. Dawson Darrington, a senior at Lakeland High School says “I’m thinking maybe NIC, and then after I finish my associates, go out of state and make the big bucks. Affording college will be hard, but luckily we have Mrs. Paquette, so hopefully, she will come in clutch.”

Raine Cramer is nervous because she professed, “financially I am worried about being broke and being able to afford college. But I am excited to see how it plays out and what I will become.”

Covid has definitely impacted the seniors this year and changed a few things about their senior experience. Dawson Darrington stated, “It’s been pretty nasty seeing the homies fall down to the covid enterprise. Idaho is coming back strong though, get vaccinated, and we’re all on the same team.”

Other students are more worried about the effects covid might have on their senior year. Raine Cramer mentioned, “I’m worried that stuff might get shut down, and there will be less opportunities in my last year of high school. I’m hopeful things will stay open though.”

Students at Lakeland have mentioned that they will miss their time in high school. Dawson Darrington expressed, “I will definitely miss being a kid, but I am excited to move on in life and see what I can achieve.”

Raine Cramer has a similar feeling about leaving high school. “I will miss high school. It’s one of those things where once you leave, there is no going back, and it’s gone forever. ”

Just like the other students, Dawson Darrington and Raine Cramer are ready to move on to their future and take their next steps in life.
