Lady Hawks Fall to Lake City, Travel to Yakima

The Lakeland Lady Hawks Volleyball team (2-5-1) had a big weekend packed with multiple intense matchups. 

They had a match against the Lake City Lady Timberwolves on Thursday and then a tournament over the weekend. 

On Thursday night, the Lady Timberwolves had their homecoming night as they hosted Lakeland. The Lady Timberwolves took the first set with a close score of 26-24. The Lady Hawks then took the next set with a score of 25-19. The Lady Hawks then lost the following two sets 25-24, 25-18. Lakeland lost the game 3-1 in four sets as the Lady Timberwolves took the win on their homecoming night. 

“We started off really strong, and the whole time we kept a really good momentum and competed well. ” Kenna Simon stated.

Lakeland then played in the Sundome Volleyball Festival in Yakima, Washington, over the weekend. The Lady Hawks won their first set 25-22 and then lost the next set 25-18 against the Lakeside Eagles. They tied 1-1 in the game.

The Hawks tried to bounce back against the Burlington-Edison Tigers. They lost the first set 25-19 and lost the second set 25-20. They lost the game 2-0 after a rough weekend consisting of two losses and one draw. 

The Lady Hawks will look to bounce back in their next game at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Lewiston.
