Hawks Fell to The Bengals in Double Header

Lakeland Hawks lose to Lewiston Bengals in a double header Tuesday afternoon at Lakeland High School Diamond. 

The Bengals (17-4) played a double header against the Hawks (9-12) which ended with both games going to the Bengals, scores of 10-0 and 13-2. 

In the first of two matchups, the Bengals took the huge lead during the 2nd inning, scoring 5 points alone, with 2 points coming from Taryn Barney home run. 

Samatha Mader led the Bengals to victory in the pitcher’s circle, in five innings, she allowed zero runs on six hits and striking nine out.  

Hailey Gosch lead the Hawks with two hits on three at bats

The final score of the game ended with 10-0. 

In the 2nd contest, the Bengals continued to dominate, scoring seven runs in the 3rd inning alone. Lewiston Bengals big bats were led by Kate Banks, Caitrin Reel, Lanie Weeks, Karli Taylor, and Jenika Ortiz, who each had RBIs in the inning.

The Hawks improved from the previous game, with Hailey Smit and Cienna Walls each scoring runs for the Hawks. 

Kate Banks pitched for the Bengals, lasting five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one.

The final matchup in the double header ended with the score 13-2. 

The Lakeland Hawks next matchup is at Lake City High School against the Lake City Timberwolves, Saturday, May 1st at noon.
