On your mark, get set, go! The Lakeland Hawks 2021 track season is starting up and they’re ready to work hard. With the 2020 track season being cut short due to the first outbreak of COVID the Hawks are ready to compete.

When asked who he thinks some of the key athletes are, coach Brian Etchison said  “Sam Daniels, Josh Haug, Ammon Munyer among others are some returning state qualifiers. I think there is a lot of unknown because we didn’t get to have a season last year but I think we have a lot of good pieces to work with.”

Coach Brian Etchison said “The Hawks have some talented freshman coming into the program. Rylee Wirth and Regan Wright have caught the eyes for the coaches. Connor Carvajal and Caius Tebbe have stood out this season so far for the boys.”

The Hawks are looking strong in pole vault and they have a lot of sprinters and will just have to sift through who will run in each event.

Etchison also stated in an email “We also have a lot of talent for long distance runners and will have to figure out how to best utilize it to give ourselves the best chance to win an IEL championship.”

Some of Lakeland’s biggest competition is always Moscow and Sandpoint. Sandpoint has a really strong distance program and Moscow won the last IEL championship.

Etchison said “we want to compete and compete against good teams.”
