The 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, a classic brought back in this day and age, is truly the peak of modern American Muscle.
The Hellcat Redeye has a huge 6.2L supercharged hemispherical V8, making 797 HP, 80 HP more than the regular Hellcat. The engine produces 707 lb-ft of torque, has a 3.6 second 0-60, ¼ mile of 10.6 seconds, and a top speed of 202 MPH.
The Redeye makes all this extra power compared to the Hellcat by increasing the length of both internal rotors by 28mm.
This supercharged Hemi V8 is the pure embodiment of America, from the front, the sound of the supercharger will play like classical music, while in the back it sounds like the front row at a Metallica concert. Such harmony between the front and back pretty much sums this car up.
“I think it’s pretty fast, probably faster than my car, but I think it’s slower than Cooper Hummer” sophomore Griffin Tamagni said
The modern-day challenger takes after its origins having a very similar square body style to match how it looked back in the 60s.
The Redeye comes with a very aggressive hood with dual hood scoops that feed even more air onto the engine to cool down the 8 angry pistons of straight power. The headlights are nicely rounded with two functional and two that feed air into the engine for a better fuel-to-power ratio, it’s the only way for all 6.2L to be filled.
The Redeye also gets an extremely large widebody on it making it just that much more aggressive. On the rear end, in the center, there is a large Dodge logo, some nice rectangular tail lights, and a spoiler for more downforce.
“The sound of it is very seducing,” Sophomore Keith Lanzaro said
The interior comes much like a luxurious race car, with Alcantara bucket seats and wheel, 2 cup holders, an anatomically correct gear shift that is connected to an 8-speed automatic trans that has a manual mode. Although not quite a family car it has some rear seats but pretty much no room.
The Hellcat has quite the background, the Challenger was created to compete with the Camaro and Mustang and quickly gained the love of Dodge fans around the nation. It was the most consistent of the muscle trio, it was never discontinued like the Camaro and never went through an ugly stage like the Mustang.
Dodge didn’t want to let down the pressure in 2015 Dodge released the Hellcat and it blew away the competition, with the faster 0-60 and ¼ mile time during the time. Especially with the Redeye, it just made the Hellcat stronger than ever.
